Norma Torney
Norma P. Torney came to Poughkeepsie from Hawaii. She received her bachelor’s degree from Maryknoll College with a major in English literature and minors in philosophy, education, and Spanish. She did graduate work in Comparative Literature at the University of the Philippines, and graduate studies in Information Sciences (Computer Science) at the University of Hawaii while working as a medical assistant. Torney holds a permanent NY state teaching certificate in English and occasionally teaches conversational English and American culture to corporate families (IBM, Siemens, Toshiba, Tokyo Electronics) on temporary assignment in the U.S. She is also a freelance copy editor and has edited both fiction and non-fiction.
